Tongass Conservation Society Overview

The Tongass Conservation Society is a dynamic, diverse group of citizens situated in and around Southeast Alaska. Our common bond is a love and appreciation for the healthy ecosystems of Southeast Alaska. We strive to nourish an attitude of responsible stewardship and to enable the community at large to become more active and informed.

TCS began in the 1960’s as a mountaineering club whose members sought to protect the clean waters and varied environment around Ketchikan. One of TCS’s earliest accomplishments was participating in the formation of the Misty Fjords National Monument.
